This space is prepared for student to roll ink on Lino.


Reference lines are made in advance for a precise guideline for students to use for proper print position and proportion.

LINOCUT: In The City

  • Research subject images of cityscape, city elements, city culture, city architecture. 
  • Sketch ideas in sketchbook.
  • Draw final sketch on transfer paper using pencil and copy onto LINO.
  • Use Art Classroom safety procedures and personal space during the cutting process. Cut AWAY from the body. Clean space and throw away scraps. 
  • Linocut print must display high contrast positive and negative space.
  • Prepare watercolor paper with an abstract background.
  • Create 2 prints (first - Japanese paper, second - watercolor background).
  • Use black block print ink.
  • Artwork must display high contrast positive & negative SPACE, LINE, SHAPE, TEXTURE
  • Cityscape should show CRAFTSMANSHIP, NEATNESS, CLEAN and CRISP PRINTING LINES.
