Applied Design | Week 1 Distance Learning 2020

Hello & Welcome to Week 1 of Distance Learning!

We are going to go in depth with our scheduled journal assignments. Please use your sketchbooks for the follow days' assignments, prompts and studies. Check back every school day. A new post will be up by 9:00am.

Concept - Structures
Medium - Your choice
Elements of Art - line, shape, form, space
Principles of Design - unity, balance

First, let's define what a STRUCTURE is.  Click the hyperlink to watch this short video.



Research and brainstorm different types of structures. 
Use perspective to create your composition. 


Example: Structures in the form of buildings from the perspective of an ant's eye view. 


Example: Drawing building structures from a bird's eye view.


Example: Above, Art History in architecture of the column. 
Doric - simple circular shape in a Greek-style column.
Ionic - scroll shaped ornaments in a Greek-style column. 
Corinthian - the most decorative order of Greek-Roman architecture. 

Directions

1. Read and understand the above journal assignment and the art vocabulary. 
2. Research and brainstorm different types of structures. 
3. Decide what elements and details you want to include in the aesthetic of your structure. 
4. Draw with your choice of medium. 
5. What is the best perspective to represent your structure?


I will be signing onto my Instagram platform at 9:00am each school day to talk with you in detail. I will also have a funny sketch activity to create in real-time with you.
